Goodleaf’s anti-stress skincare is a rescue remedy for fatigued skin and a stressed mind. The range aims at hydrating the skin, reducing inflammation, and repairing an impaired skin barrier function.
Our intricate endocrine system usually manages all hormones in a well-organised fashion. However, if there are high levels of stress, one of the hormones that is stimulated, is cortisol. This is known to disrupt our physiological responses. On-going and high levels of cortisol can aggravate multiple health conditions including skincare concerns, such as eczema, breakouts, growth hormone reduction, decreased levels of melatonin, reduced elasticity and poor blood circulation.
Our urban lifestyles also expose us to more pollutants, toxins and chemicals. That means more oxidative stress.
Add in poor sleep, and our skins are presenting with premature ageing, dark circles, puffiness and a general dull appearance!
Thankfully, Goodleaf skincare products are specially formulated to soothe, hydrate, balance, protect and repair the skin, using clean hero ingredients.
‘How-to’ your anti-stress facial at home:
It’s important to create a calm, quiet environment for your self-care rituals. Choose a Goodleaf music playlist (available on Spotify), and a relaxing essential oil to your diffuser. (You can even add one drop to the bowl of warm water that you will use for your face)
You can stand at the bathroom countertop or set up at a table so that you can sit comfortably.
The ritual below can safely be done twice a week, but once a week would be a very good, achievable goal.
STEP ONE:
Start by taking a few deep breaths.
Dip your fingers in the warm water and add about a 1-2 pumps of the Revive Purifying Face Cleanser.
Apply to the entire face, neck and chest.
Gently work this into the skin with circular movements for about 1 minute.
If you need to add a little more water, wet your fingers again.
Be sure to work into the hairline, under the jaw, the sides of the nose, and even over the eyes. (The cleanser is not designed as an eye makeup remover, but is gentle enough to use over the eye area)
This cleanser is suitable for all skin types and tones and contains African ginger which has anti-inflammatory benefits. This product will soothe, balance your natural microbiome, and effectively cleanse, removing any traces of pollution.
Gently splash with the warm water to remove. Pat the skin dry with a towel.
(If you were wearing makeup, you may want to do a double cleanse) The skin feels super clean afterwards, but without drying the skin. The product doesn’t foam a lot because there were no harmful foaming agents added.
STEP TWO:
Your skin has a natural cell renewal process, but we want to improve that to remove excess dead skin build up, treat concerns such as pigmentation and scarring, and reduce blocked pores. Exfoliation also enables our serums and creams to penetrate better.
Apply the Renew Revitalising Exfoliator to your face, neck and chest with dry fingers. We don’t want to forget about the chest area (otherwise known as the décolleté) as this area needs as much attention as our face!
Gently rub the product with circular motions into the skin. If it becomes a little dry, add some warm water. This exfoliator is rich in skin-protecting antioxidants including hemp seed and Kalahari melon. Baobab husks and jojoba beads are the key exfoliating ingredients, and shea butter maintains the skin's hydration.
It’s ideal to use a gentle, warm face cloth from your bowl of water to remove this product. You can do this a few times, allowing your skin to absorb the warmth from the face cloth. (Another option is to use the Renew Revitalising Exfoliator, and then hop into the shower and enjoy some steam, before rinsing it off)
STEP THREE:
Your skin is now super clean and ready for all the green goodness from the Illuminate Nourishing Face Mask. We have to mention some of its unique ingredients! Zinc to soothe any skin irritation, and chlorophyll to aid detoxification. The resurrection plant provides rapid hydration.
You can either use your fingers to apply or apply with a mask brush.
Leave this on for 15 minutes.
This is the perfect time to enjoy a Goodleaf sparkling water, or your daily dose of Goodleaf drops, to further hydrate and add calm. Whilst relaxing, apply some gentle pressure points to the ear lobes. Acupressure in this area is known to help with headaches.
You can use your warm face cloth to remove the mask.
STEP FOUR:
Now to feed the skin with the Glow Soothing Face Oil. African botanicals like baobab and mongongo target signs of fatigue and lacklustre skin. This plant-packed facial oil strengthens the skin barrier function and reduces sensitivity, thanks to all the many sources of omegas. (Also known as ‘essential fatty acids such as almond oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil, and hemp)
Your skin will literally drink this skin food in after exfoliating and masking.
Leave this product on the skin.
STEP FIVE:
Lock in hydration and brighten the skin by applying the Restore Nourishing Night Cream. Squalene, green rooibos and vitamin C are the key ingredients for this nighttime treat.
Apply with upward, sweeping movements.
(If you don’t have the night cream, apply the Rise Hydrating Day Cream.)
Finish off by using the Goodleaf Lip Balm for soft, happy lips!
Your skin will thank you for the extra attention, and regular self-care rituals will enrich your well-being.
