Creating a bedtime routine is one of the easiest ways to trick your body and mind into unwinding at night and ultimately helping you to fall asleep faster.
There's the classic "bath, book, bed" that many follow, but sometimes it can be nicer to curate a unique ritual that feels special and ceremonious to you each night.
First, if you are using our CBD drops or vapes in your routine then remember to get your dose in before 6pm if you find that taking it too close to bedtime overstimulates your brain.
For some that's not an issue and they can take it right before lights out. Remember, CBD works differently for everyone depending on their unique biochemistry - so you'll just need to experiment to figure out what timing works best for you.
Then we'd recommend using a specific set of sensory tools to structure the rest of your routine.
One nice trick is associating a certain smell with sleep time - be it the bath salts you use, the candle you burn or the specific incense you light. We love using our Relief Roller across the temples and forehead for both a calming effect and a lovely scent of ginger root and Namibian Myrrh.
Next, listen to some soothing sounds in the form of a classical piano playlist, or maybe some binaural beats - auditory illusions that occur when you hear different frequency sounds in different ears, and are known to be good for meditation and relaxation.
In terms of touch and texture, next we'd suggest incorporating some really good quality, breathable fabrics for the pyjamas you wear on your body.
Keeping your body temperature cool is another key part of falling and staying asleep, and synthetic or tight fitting fabrics can cause you to feel stifled and sweaty. Try nestling into the feeling of soft, silky and loose textiles instead.
These characteristics are of course also important for the linen you sleep under. Even in winter you want to ensure your sheets are letting your body breathe, and in summer you might want to just sleep under a blanket made from good quality fabric (cotton is always a winner) instead.
